Introduction: Hey y’all I’m Madelyn Methvin, a Starkville, MS. native that never left my hometown for college. Over the last two and a half years I have spent time trying to figure out the best ways to use your time in college between a social and academic life. These were two things I never stressed about prioritizing in high school. Once I got to college I soon learned you can’t just float through the experience.

Background: I came to college in the middle of the COVID-19 outbreak, so I had a little more adjusting to do than other students. School was fully online at this time, so I never had to learn how to make time in my schedule for things like going to class or studying. By the time sophomore year came around I had no work ethic for school and on top of that I was full of anxiety when it came to my social life. I’ve always had a strong friend group growing up and when I got to college, I had a hard time developing new friendships. I spent sophomore year trying to grow relationships while also working on my academics. Now as I close out my junior year, I can say that no I don’t have everything figured out, I still struggle from time to time, but I am able to use the skills I have acquired to help me when I feel overwhelmed. Over my years here I have been able to come up with the best ways to optimize time. I wanted to create this brand so that incoming students will have a leg up on getting themselves together for college.

Target Audience: My target audience is current and incoming college students. It is an important time in life that you get to experience for a short period of time, so it would help if people figured these tips out sooner than later. It is never too late to try and make the most of a college experience. The four years you’re a student go by so quickly and we are expected to learn so much not only academically but also about ourselves. To make it through these years you have to have your priorities straight.

Unique Value Proposition: Since I came to college in the middle of a global pandemic, I had to adjust quickly so that I could make the most of the time I had. Since Covid was happening we never knew if we were going to be kicked out of school, so I needed to be able to make the most of the time I had. This caused me to form skills needed to do better in my new environment. These are skills I plan to take with me as I leave college in a year.

Call to Action: If you enjoy what you see on my website, follow my Instagram @madelynmethvinpr for frequent posts regarding college life. This page is an outlet for me to be able to help others ease into the same transition I had to go through.
